Kroma × Alo
October 7, 2026 · Prepared by Butterfly Studios
Summary
Alo is the closest brand register to Kroma of any platform in the category, and it is already selling Kroma's category without Kroma's product. Its stores carry third-party juice, matcha and kombucha; it launched gel-shot supplements in 2023 and called ingestibles a future "expansive category"; and in January 2026 its free Alo Wellness Club shipped a 7-Day Reset Ritual with nutrition programming. That is Kroma's 5-Day Reset, rebuilt as content, with no food in the box.
Alo is a ~$2B-revenue, founder-owned company with no outside capital, more than 150 stores, and a pending sale of its wholesale T-shirt business that analysts read as preparation for an IPO or a sale. A company shaping that story has a reason to add a nutrition line it can show as live revenue, and the founders' stated preference for family-owned over private equity suggests a founder-to-founder conversation is the right opening.
The proposal is a placement-first path. Kroma's Reset and daily products go into Alo Sanctuary cafes and the Alo Wellness Club's reset programming; results decide whether Alo wants to own the shelf. Each step is Lisa's to take, and none of them commits her to the next.
What Lisa decides first: whether Alo's younger, LA-luxury customer is a market she wants Kroma positioned in, and who opens the door.
The two companies today

The people on the other side
Alo is run by two founders who have never taken outside money, and every decision of this size goes through them.
Danny Harris and Marco DeGeorge co-founded Color Image Apparel and own it equally. They built Alo from a 2007 yoga line into a ~$2B business by seeding celebrities and owning retail, and they chose a family-owned buyer over private equity for Bella+Canvas; DeGeorge called that "paramount." They have not commented on IPO or sale plans. Any Kroma conversation is founder to founder.
Norm Hullinger, co-president of Alo since May 2026, ran Bella+Canvas and now runs operations beside the founders. He is the operator a partnership would be handed to.
Benedetta Petruzzo, International CEO since January 2026 (ex-Miu Miu, Dior), owns the Paris, Hong Kong and Tmall expansion, which is where a Kroma shelf would travel.
Alyson Wilson, VP Brand Innovation, led the 2023 ingestibles launch and said then that "nothing is ever off the table" for the category. She is the likely internal sponsor for a nutrition line.
Summer Nacewicz, EVP Creative & Marketing since December 2025, runs the Alo Wellness Club programming where the 7-Day Reset Ritual lives.
Unique advantages of this relationship
Alo is the one platform where Kroma's product drops into a program that already exists, and where the brand voice needs no translation.
What only Alo brings Kroma
- A reset program with no food in it. The Alo Wellness Club's 7-Day Reset Ritual gives nutrition guidance from a Chenot chef and hydration rituals to every free Alo Access member. Kroma's 5-Day Reset is the kit that program is describing.
- Cafes that already stock the category. Sanctuary stores sell cold-pressed juice, matcha and kombucha at the counter. A Kroma latte or broth bar is a merchandising change, not a new concept, and Lisa built exactly that with Beaming.
- The closest brand register in the market: women-led, ritual, LA wellness culture, Erewhon-shopping. Kroma inside Alo needs no sub-brand.
- Luxury pricing headroom. A $128 legging customer and $1,200 handbag customer does not blink at a $385 Reset.
- An IPO-or-sale narrative that rewards a live nutrition line. Alo named ingestibles an expansive category in 2023; a proven partner shelf is faster than building one.
- International flagships (Paris, Hong Kong, Tmall) run by a luxury-trained International CEO, which is export distribution Kroma could not reach alone.
What only Kroma brings Alo
- The food. Alo has skincare and gel shots; it has no meals, broths, or resets. Kroma is twenty formulated, reviewed, shelf-stable SKUs with a clinical-beta history.
- The older customer. Alo skews 20s–30s; Kroma's buyer is 35–60 with higher wallet and longevity motivation, the segment a pre-IPO Alo needs to show it can hold.
- A founder who has run cafes at scale. Beaming was ten SoCal superfood cafe locations before the exit; Sanctuary cafes are the same operating problem.
- Celebrity investors Alo does not already have (Paltrow, Schumer, Seinfeld), who widen Alo's celebrity seeding into a different age band.
- A GLP-1 companion line at the moment that category is the one investors favor.
Deal shapes, lightest to heaviest
Alo has never acquired a brand; it builds and divests. The realistic sequence starts with placement and lets the founders decide whether to own the shelf before a listing.
| Shape | What it is | What Lisa keeps | Sizing frame (placeholder until Kroma shares current numbers) |
|---|---|---|---|
| A · Program and cafe placement | Kroma's 5-Day Reset becomes the kit inside the Alo Wellness Club's Reset Ritual; Kroma lattes, broths and Super Core at Sanctuary cafes in LA and the planned San Diego Sanctuary; Alo Access member offer. Wholesale margin or revenue share, 12 months. | Full independence; a live read on Alo's customer | No valuation event |
| B · Exclusive co-branded line | "Alo × Kroma" reset and daily SKUs sold in Alo stores, online and international flagships, with Kroma as the formulator of record; Alo funds inventory and marketing. | Brand and IP; a second channel larger than kromawellness.com | Minimum-volume commitment in place of equity |
| C · Strategic minority | Harris and DeGeorge, personally or through Color Image Apparel, take a minority stake with a right of first refusal, bundled with Shape B. Alo has never done this; a pre-IPO growth story is the reason it might. | Control; one strategic on the cap table | Kroma's last mark ~$14M post (Feb 2024); a strategic round at $20–35M pre-money would be consistent with two years of growth plus Alo's channel |
| D · Acquisition into the IPO story | Alo acquires Kroma as its nutrition division ahead of a listing; Lisa runs nutrition and cafes; Kroma keeps its name as the food line. | Alo equity ahead of a liquidity event; an operating role | Premium wellness brands with strong repeat have traded around 1–4× revenue |

Shapes A and B are the natural fit with Alo's organic-build posture. C and D only become real if Alo decides a nutrition line belongs in the prospectus.
Fit risks to settle early
- Build versus buy. Alo's whole history is organic build; it launched its own gel shots rather than partnering. The answer is that food is a different discipline from supplements, Kroma's formulations and beta history take years to replicate, and a pre-IPO company buys time.
- Age band. Alo's core is 20s–30s; Kroma's is 35–60. That is the opportunity, and it needs to be framed as Alo expanding upward, not Kroma trading down. An August 2025 age-discrimination suit by a former top instructor makes the framing worth handling carefully.
- Timing. A live IPO or sale process can freeze non-core deals. Shape A fits inside that window because it needs no capital; C and D wait on the founders' decision about the listing.
- Pending litigation. A $150M influencer-disclosure class action (filed April 2025) and the instructor suit are Alo's to manage; in a co-branded line, Kroma's marketing would sit inside Alo's disclosure practices, so that needs reviewing before Shape B.
- Founder tempo. Harris and DeGeorge move on instinct and own everything; there is no board to escalate to. That is fast when they say yes and final when they say no.
The path in and proposed sequence
There is no warm lane into Alo today; the door is through the LA wellness network Kroma already sits in and through Alo's wellness team.
- Lisa sets the frame. Partner, capital, or exit, and whether Alo's customer is one she wants. Kroma's current revenue, repeat rate and gross margin so the sizing frames become real.
- Open through the wellness desk, founder-to-founder behind it. First conversation with Alyson Wilson (Brand Innovation) or Summer Nacewicz (Wellness Club programming), positioned as the food for the Reset Ritual. A Paltrow, Schumer or Seinfeld introduction to Harris and DeGeorge runs in parallel if available; Alo's model is celebrity-led and that is the language it reads.
- Shape A for one quarter. Kroma inside the Reset Ritual and at two Sanctuary cafes (one LA, one San Diego when it opens). Read sell-through, repeat and member conversion.
- Results pull Shape B. A co-branded line with a volume commitment, timed to Alo's international flagship calendar.
- Lisa chooses the destination. C or D only if Alo decides nutrition belongs in its listing story, and only on terms that keep Kroma's name on the food.
What Lisa decides now is step 1. Everything after it is sequenced so that no step commits her to the next.
